VERN Race: Human Occupation: Protector of Ator, Guard Place of Birth: City of Ator Known Relatives: Mother (Unknown Name), Father (Unknown Name), Douglas (Brother) First Appearance: Neverending Nights - Episode 16: Dessert City? History: Vern is the brother of Douglas, and like his brother, and like his father, and his father before him; he is a Guardian of Ator. However, that is where the similarities cease. While Douglas was always the ladies man, Vern seemed a lot more in control and reserved. However, there was a side of Vern that none saw. And those that did, rarely lived to speak of it. Douglas' womanizing ways often attracted a lot of attention (typically from angry husbands) - and as a result, in the shadows of night, Vern was the one that would have to go and threaten these husbands to take no action against his brother. Some did not listen to Vern's "firm suggestions" and made attempts to get back at Douglas. Those that did, usually "left Ator" sometime in the middle of the night, never to be seen again. Vern doesn't agree with Douglas' womanizing ways, but he would do anything to protect his brother. Vern, perhaps in a way to find balance, got married and had a child to keep him grounded. Vern also uses the marriage as an excuse not to go out adventuring - knowing that Douglas would never leave his brother, and thus the marriage provides the anchor to keep Douglas in check.
